Ticket Update!

Hello all!  Just wanted to let you know that ticket sales will close on Friday, March 4th.  If we reach 350 before then, ticket sales will close before Friday. We have sold out of PATRON TICKETS!  If you are waiting to buy your tickets, you may miss out.  We have already sold 292 tickets, so that only leaves 58.  Don’t wait till the last minute and miss out on this fabulous event.  To buy tickets, CLICK HERE.  To view the Auction Catalog, click here.  To start bidding immediately in the Online Pre-Auction, click here.

Oya No Kai Annual Auction is this Saturday, March 5 at a warehouse space called The Plant.  The address is 939 SE Alder, BUT the guest entrance to the building is off 10th Ave through the patron parking lot.  We will have signs to direct you.  This event is urban and casual.  If you want to dress up, that is cool, but do so at your own risk!  Several hours in heels on concrete will probably hurt and wearing a slinky cocktail dress could be cold.  We will have racks to deposit coats on…but it’s casual and self serve.

Doors open at 5pm.  Check in, get your bid number, grab your free drink ticket (s) and get ready to win some amazing things!  All food (Japanese appetizers during the silent auction & Noho’s during the Gallery/Live Auction) will be self serve.  Here’s the run down:

5:00pm:  silent auction, beer/wine, japanese appetizers, limited golden tickets sold, music by the amazing dj kez

6:30pm:  live painting by taka sudo, art gallery, noho’s hawaiian cafe, beer/wine, wine wall, limited golden tickets sold, music by dj kez

7:30pm:  taiko by en taiko, jmp slideshow (bring your kleenex!), welcome by sarah & maya

7:45pm:  live auction begins (fabulous mcs, kari shawen & kristina kallen and auctioneer brian kennedy!), heads or tails, the golden ticket

Throughout the live auction there will be a performance by Nanda (acrobatalists!) and by our very own lovely & talented interns!  The proceeds of this event will support the Intern Program (we need roughly $60,000 to support the 19 interns arriving this spring) and our 3 Cultural Exchanges (5th, 8th and high school)

DON’T FORGET TO BUY A RAFFLE TICKET!!  These tickets are only $20 and get you three chances to win either an iPad, a Shun Premier Knife Set or a fantastic Bonneville Resort getaway.  We are at Richmond every morning this week and have reps at Mt Tabor & Grant.  These tickets are going FAST, so you might not want to wait until the auction to pick one up!

Thanks,

Maya & Sarah

All of the materials were donated.

Taka Sudo Live Painting!

We are so excited to announce this not-to-be missed event!  There are only 10 days left , so BUY YOUR AUCTION TICKETS TODAY to participate in this amazing evening!

Taka will be painting live at the auction from 6:30pm on.  We will have the unique experience of watching him create his work before our very eyes.  The beautiful painting will then be auctioned off to an extremely lucky person!  What an incredible way to support art, our fantastic program and to walk home with a priceless experience, memory & painting!

Taka Sudo (TiFdyL):  Born and raised in Tokyo Japan.  Now resides in BC Canada since 2001.  Sometimes on a mountaintop with powder snow and sometimes in overcrowded subways in Tokyo.  From a high mountain range to glassy skyscrapers.  With ketchup and with soy sauce.  With glacier beer and with sake.  These things are inspiring my creativity only a little.  People with amazing creativity from all over the world.  This is the true inspiration!

Thank you to  Taka Sudo & Matt Wagner (Hellion Gallery)

Tomorrow we will post some more art project pictures.  The 1st grade Sunlight Oni & Moonlight Oni are fantastic!  Also, 5th grade mirrors and the 4th grade Portlandia/We Put Birds On Things! too.

Cheers, Maya
